About Burris FastFire 3-Inch LED Light Bar
Overall Feedback:
71% positive
64% highlighted the field of view, however, 36% were disappointed
I noticed that the gun-sight has a huge field of view and it is lightweight. The dot is visible in all light condition.
With my old eyes, I couldn't focus on the front sight post of my pistol. But with the red dot sight, I am more accurate than with the iron sights.
The field of view is extremely narrow, making it almost impossible to acquire the dot quickly due to a lot of parallax.
65% were satisfied with the battery life, but 35% weren't
The battery life has been great. I only recently changed the battery in the first unit after 3 years of purchase.
I have gone through 3 batteries already, and they are Duracell, not cheap Chinese batteries.
63% appreciated the adjustment mechanism, while 37% disagreed
the elevation and windage screws of the gun-sight have a wide range of adjustment and cannot be adjusted with bare hands.
The adjustment screws for sight alignment require only a small screwdriver, which is included with the sight.
I noticed that one adjuster sometimes sticks, but backing off and trying again allows the dot to move.
70% liked the mounting compatibility
I can mount the sight in an offset position onto my scoped 5.56x45 bolt action without any issues with recoil or bumping, even if others mount it on 12gas or centerfire pistol slides.
I used Sight-Mount to replace my rear sight. It provides a short picatinny rail section and installs in the rear sight dove tail. It also has the rear iron sight, so if I remove the red-dot, I still have good iron sights to use.
I found an alternative screw (Traxxas 2550, sold on Amazon) of the right length to re-mount the sight.
Many aftermarket mounts have 4 mounting holes which allow me to rotate the sight on the base so the QD lever or thumbscrew can be on either side.
75% liked the magnification range
At 25 yards, the dot covers approximately 2 inches on the target, which I feel is very appropriate for a shotgun.
I installed the gun-sights myself and found that it was not impossible to install without special tools. I used a battery-powered hand grinder with a cutting wheel to install the rear sight, and after about 3 go rounds, the rear sight went in the slot on slide, centered it up, didn't need lock tite as was very snug, 750 rounds later it has not budged.
