About Performance Tool W54204 Performance Tool Professional Pistol Grip Grease Gun
Overall Feedback:
87% positive
79% liked the variety of compatible accessories, while 21% found limited options
I have never seen a grease gun with an end that is too small for standard grease nipples.
78% appreciated the easy cleaning process, but 22% found it tedious
I have found a solution for the issue of leaking grease from the areas circled in the picture. Simply snug the leaking areas down with a slip joint plier and then back off the coupler to fit the zerk.
I faced an issue with the grease gun as it was leaking at both ends of the tube that delivers the grease to the fitting. I disassembled it, put teflon tape on the threads at both ends of the tube, tightened it back into place and it worked perfectly.
I bought the product to pack bearings without making a mess, but ended up having a bigger mess than if I had done it by hand.
82% found it comfortable to hold and use, while 18% experienced fatigue
The grease gun worked perfectly, loaded easily, and pumped grease without breaking any zerk fittings or leaks.
Once I figured out how to use it, it worked well.
I have complained that the plunger gets stuck on the chamber, making it difficult to push the grease to the top.
Rephrased: The plunger constantly gets stuck on the chamber, making it difficult to push the grease to the top.
85% appreciated its rugged construction, though 15% experienced breakage
The grease gun worked perfectly. It loaded easily, pumped grease, and didn't break any zerk fittings.
Less expensive items generally have less quality control and may require problem solving skills to get them working correctly, based on my personal experience with the grease-gun.
On first use, the threads on the tube rounded over, making it completely worthless and a waste of money.
My product became useless as the plunger mechanism got stuck.
88% found it easy to reload and operate, while 12% had difficulties
I have a tip for filling the joint/bearing by keeping the coupler parallel with the fitting, which makes it easier to use.
I found the instructions unclear, but still managed to use the product with ease since I am relatively adept in using tools.
I had difficulty using the grease gun on my first attempt as it leaked grease at both ends of the tube. I fixed the issue by disassembling it and putting teflon tape on the threads, which solved the problem and made it easy to use.
76% liked the large grease capacity, but 24% needed frequent refills
After pumping 5 times, the grease started flowing through the gun.
I had a poor user experience with the grease gun as the threads were mis-manufactured and it ejected an entire tube of grease within 10 seconds of loading it.
The coupler that comes with the grease gun is terrible, causing the grease to go everywhere except where it's supposed to go.
70% liked the long and flexible hose, while 30% found it too stiff
If I want to use it on other machines, I might look for a flexible hose.
I found that the nozzle easily fits onto the zerk fittings and the grease comes out smoothly. The hose is long enough to reach the fittings.
The grease fitting on the end of my hose is too tight on the zerk fitting.
I faced issues with leaking grease and dry pumps. I resolved the leaking grease issue by snugging them down with a slip joint plier. The coupler then has to be backed off to fit the zerk. This takes some trial and error, but once you hit the sweet spot, simply releasing at an angle will detach from the zerk successfully.
75% praised for its leak-free design, though 25% experienced spills
I have complained that the product leaked from almost every fitting.
I faced an issue with leaking grease from the areas circled in the picture. I resolved it by snugging them down with a slip joint plier (make sure not to cross thread).
I find that the connector is too small for the nipples and it leaks when I try to loosen it.
71% praised for its quiet operation, while 29% found it too loud
I found that the grease gun loaded easily, pumped grease smoothly, and didn't break any zerk fittings.
I faced issues with leaking grease and dry pumps while using the grease gun. The steps to resolve the issue were also mentioned.
I have issues with the grease fitting on the end of the hose being too tight on the zerk fitting. This is not related to the noise level of the grease-gun.
The threads of my grease gun were mis-manufactured and ejected an entire tube of grease after loading, indicating a high noise level.
79% praised for its high pressure output, while 21% found it too weak
After loading a tube of grease, the mis-manufactured threads gave away and I ended up ejecting the entire tube.
To release the grease fitting, I need to back it off about a half turn, but it is held very well by the couple.
