About GE GFC530N Continuous Feed Garbage Disposal
Overall Feedback:
73% positive
72% found the continuous feed convenient, but 28% preferred batch feeding
I tried to fix the issue twice but couldn't get it to seal.
I was surprised when the disposal started shooting chunks of metal at me.
85% found it easy to install, while 15% needed professional assistance
The installation process was easy and took only 20 minutes.
Installing the garbage-disposer can be problematic.
79% praised its effective grinding, although 21% experienced jams
After about a year, the disposal started making grinding noises and became completely rusted out, making it unrepairable.
The grinding blades are already jamming.
I had to manually move the grinder around in circles to clear the jam caused by a hockey stick, indicating poor grinding performance of the garbage-disposer.
65% appreciated the low maintenance needs, though 35% had to clean it frequently
After 9 years, one of the grinding things broke off, indicating that maintenance requirements of the garbage-disposer may be an issue.
The disposal worked for a year or so and then started making grinding noises. I had an appliance specialist look at it who said it was completely rusted out and not repairable.
83% found it surprisingly quiet, while 17% thought it was too loud
The noise level is not super quiet but not terribly loud either, compared to the other one we had under there for so long.
I expected the GE unit to be quieter and of higher quality than the Insinkerator, but I couldn't tell any difference in sound level between the GE and the cheaper Badger unit.
I tested the noise level and found it to be loud but not excessively loud.
The unit advertised sound dampening, but it is louder than my old Insinkerator Badger which had no sound dampening.
I left the installation job to my son and his boys. They reported that the removal and installation of the new disposal went smoothly.
