During installation, the three bolts that tighten up the upper part which attaches to the sink are tightened with a screwdriver. Once the disposal is installed and in use, the combined weight and vibrations will require the bolts to be tightened further. It is suggested to either tighten them before installation or with the disposal in place. A strange screwdriver that is bent at a 90 degree angle can be used to tighten them without removing the disposal, but it is difficult. A normal bolt ending that can be tightened with a wrench or socket would have been more convenient.
