About Mityvac MV7400 Manual Automotive Fluid Evacuator with Dipstick Tubes
71% appreciated its compact size, although 29% found it bulky
I find the design of the device poor and am dissatisfied with it.
78% found it easy to operate
Setting up and using it was easy, and just a few pumps created enough pressure.
I purchased the item hoping it would be easy to use. I popped off a drain plug, plugged the tube into the hole and gave the handle a few pumps and the oil immediately started flowing into the cannister.
73% liked its fast flow rate, but 27% thought it was slow
The dispensing hose should be larger as it takes too long to fill a front or rear differential with 2-4 qts of 75-90 weight fluid.
76% praised the durable hose, while 24% experienced hose failures
The pump is quite durable and the hoses easily reach the bottom of the oil pan sump.
I think the hoses are stiff because of the vacuum generated by the device to pull oil through. Based on my experience with garage shop fluid evacuators, I have faced this problem personally.
I suggest using suitable hoses as the supplied ones are too short and rigid.
71% liked its leak-resistant design, but 29% experienced leaks
I had some trouble evacuating the oil back into the disposal container due to a small leak on the top canister, but it did not affect the oil coming out.
64% appreciated its quiet operation, although 36% found it noisy
During an oil change, the air rushing out and compressor running can create noise.
I kept bumping and tightening the screws with no positive effect, which could be related to the noise level of the garage-shop-fluid-evacuators.
After closing the valve, I noticed a hissing sound coming from somewhere, but it worked perfectly. The noise level was an issue for me.
I quickly identified the selector valve as the culprit.
72% appreciated the precise pressure control
I faced a problem with air bubbles leaking into the oil stream. I contacted Lincoln (owners of Mityvac) via email and received an immediate response. I fixed the issue by adding sealant between the pickup tube and the coupler in the top of the tank.
