The futon-mattress has a weird bad smell, similar to poopy hay or something slightly funky, like cardboard or dollar store tissue paper for gift bags.

The futon-mattress is fairly comfortable, though on the firmer side. The memory foam does sink in a bit, but I find it comfortable in the way it supports my body.
For the price, the futon is good.
I had to buy soft pads to sit on the futon for more comfort while watching TV.
I think the memory foam could have been thicker for better seating and more comfort when used as a bed.

I can fold up the futon-mattress to the size of a large suitcase by removing only 8 of the hex-keyed bolts (center legs) and store the legs and bolts inside the zippable compartments to keep it all together.
I am dissatisfied with the mechanism that allows the futon to be folded back and fear that it may break over time.
