After use, I ran warm water over the whole lid, which softened up the plastic and allowed it to pull off easily along with all the gunk.
The tab insert solves the problem of getting yucky stuff out of the small grate, which I disliked about the Vadailia chopping Wizard. Additionally, the bottom clear plastic base tends to break easily, indicating that the product may not be durable.
