The ring seal on the bamboo lid is airtight and you can hear the air squish out as it creates a vacuum seal.
The lids have a rubber seal which makes a good seal, but it is not 100% air tight.

It's easy to clean this canister - just pop the glass part in the lower dishwasher rack and leave the bamboo lid on the top rack. No problems!
