About SanDisk Professional 4TB PRO-G40 SSD
Overall Feedback:
79% positive
77% appreciated the ample storage capacity, though 23% found it limited
I got around 2480MB/sec read and 2400MB/sec write in BlackMagic disk speed benchmarks with this drive. I stopped looking at external Thunderbolt SSD enclosures + NVMe SSD sticks to try to get faster speeds than this. This shows my experience with the external solid-state drive and the mentioned specifications.
If the capacity was 1.5 TB or so, I would consider it a fairly good value.
77% appreciated its wide compatibility, though 23% encountered issues with their device
When I tested the external SSD on Mac with Blackmagic, it had a reading speed of 2800 MB/S and writing speed of 2550 MB/S.
The SanDisk PRO_G40_SSD is not compatible with my 2015 iMac due to the limited power output of the USB 3.0 Type-A interface.
74% praised its rugged and durable design, though 26% experienced damage after a drop
I have noticed that the TB3 cable is very short, which could limit the durability of the external solid-state drive.
Rephrased: The TB3 cable is too short, which could limit the external solid-state drive's durability.
81% praised for its fast data transfer speeds
A higher-end OWC external RAID 0 device running 8 2TB high-end NVME drives returns about 20% lower benchmark scores than this SanDisk, despite costing much more per TB than this external drive.
When I run a VM off this external SSD, there is no performance difference.
When I tested the PRO_G40_SSD with my MacBook Pro M2s main drive SSD, it displayed remarkable speed.
I have not noticed any performance issues when using this drive as my primary drive and it solves my problem because it is not recognized as removable.
73% liked its compact and lightweight design
This external solid state drive is portable and can be used with my MacBook Pro M2s main drive SSD. It only took 17 minutes to backup 512 GB of data through Time Machine, based on my experience.

I transferred 6 TB of data in one sitting and averaged around 275 MB/s transfer speed, which I think is pretty good.
