About SanDisk 2TB Extreme Portable SSD
69% appreciated the ample storage capacity, though 31% found it limited
I received a SanDisk SSD drive with twice the capacity I ordered, which was a pleasant surprise.
I was surprised to discover that the external device uses almost three times the actual file size, reducing the capacity by less than half.
My drive currently holds 271gb of data which occupies 559gb of drive space.
68% appreciated its wide compatibility, though 32% encountered issues with their device
I have found that the SanDisk Extreme Portable SSD has USB-C and USB 3.2 Gen 2 compatibility for fast and reliable data transfers. It also has backward compatibility with USB-A for seamless connections with older devices.
This external solid state drive works perfectly fine with my computer and is compatible, unlike other drives that had connection problems.
I have complained about the lack of information on the AMAZON site regarding the compatibility limits of the external-solid-state-drive.
I am unable to give five stars to the drive due to the quirks on the Mac that have wasted a lot of my time.
69% praised its rugged and durable design, though 31% experienced damage after a drop
I am confident that the external solid-state drive can withstand being dropped or thrown against a wall without any damage.
I have not used the drive long enough to judge its quality or durability.
70% praised for its fast data transfer speeds, while 30% experienced slow loading times
After half way, the write speed throttles. This was not observed in other products. I compared it with the 1tb version which performed better.
I have complained about the SSD drive suddenly stopping opening files, resulting in me being unable to access important data. The only solution was to format the entire drive, causing data loss and wasting considerable time.
For astrophotography work, I found that the disk is slower than a mechanical hard disk. It uses low cost but low performance flash in the drive and relies on caching for light and medium duty usage, but not intense usage.
77% liked its compact and lightweight design, while 23% found it bulky
I wish the USB-C to USB-C cable provided with the drive was longer to avoid dangling the drive from the front panel USB-C port on my desktop.
I liked the portability size of the SanDisk 2TB Extreme Portable SSD, but disliked the occasional inability to retrieve data and files.
