About SanDisk 1TB Portable SSD - Up to 800MB/s, USB-C, USB 3.2 Gen 2, Updated Firmware
Overall Feedback:
80% positive
75% appreciated the ample storage capacity, though 25% found it limited
I have an external solid state drive that is portable and has a large capacity of 1TB.
I received an error stating there was not enough space on the target drive. I reformatted and checked for bad sectors and found that the device only had 31.9GB of usable space which is a far cry from 2TB.
I noticed that the drive has less storage capacity than advertised, with only 1.8 Tb instead of the full 2 Tb.
I paid for a 2 TB drive but received a 1.8 TB drive, which is a significant difference.
72% appreciated its wide compatibility, though 28% encountered issues with their device
The device has poor compatibility, barely connecting once in 10 times, requiring a lot of set up and formatting in some weird ways, and not being compatible with all operating systems.
Both drives have issues connecting to my Mac.
I paid for a 2 TB drive but received a 1.8 TB drive, resulting in a 200 GB storage loss.
I tried different USB ports, front and rear 3.1, USB-C, different cables but nothing worked.
78% praised its rugged and durable design, though 22% experienced damage after a drop
I feel like the device has a cheap and flimsy build, making it feel like it could break easily.
I bought two external solid state drives that worked fine for a while but suddenly corrupted, causing me to lose my photos forever.
After using it for about two weeks, the drive started malfunctioning.
I found out that using the device in-car for security voids WD's warranty.
My drive died without warning and I lost all the data stored on it.
75% praised for its fast data transfer speeds, while 25% experienced slow loading times
I have mostly stored photos, graphic files, videos and GIFs with great writing/reading speed.
I think the device is not transferring at the rated speed due to a limitation of bus speed, computer interface, or hub, and not the device itself.
I have noticed that the write speed of this SSD is quite low, especially when writing thousands of 5-10 mb photo files directly to a modern generation laptop.
I have personally experienced that the average speed of the drive is not as claimed by the manufacturer. The performance of external-solid-state-drives is disappointing and I would not recommend it.
I was not satisfied with the speed of the external SSD while copying solid files as it never went up to 80mbps. My old external Toshiba HDD copied faster at 120mbps.
I paid for a 2 TB drive but received 1.8 TB, resulting in a loss of 200 GB of storage.
79% liked its compact and lightweight design, while 21% found it bulky
The external SSD is small enough to fit in my pocket and forget about it.
I love the portability of the drive as it can hold all my files, but I fear it can be easily lost/misplaced, especially if left unencrypted.
The device feels flimsy and could break easily due to its small size, low quality build, and cheapness.
I purchased a 500GB SSD, which is the entry-level storage capacity for the T7 SSD.
