About SABRENT 1TB External Aluminum SSD, Rocket Nano V2, USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 SB-1TB-NAV2
Overall Feedback:
95% positive
93% appreciated the ample storage capacity
I transferred my games directory, which is 374GB in length, and found that the Sabrent 2TB External drive handled it well.
The replacement drive works great with good speeds, no disconnections, and correctly reports all 2TB of storage (1.81TB usable space after formatting).
I am using the SSD to back up my Google drive and for straight file transfer. The volume of the transfer is around 22 gigs.
95% appreciated its wide compatibility, though 5% encountered issues with their device
I appreciate that the device comes with both USB-C and USB-A cables, unlike my previous enclosure.
I recommend this device for laptops with limited storage or situations where large amounts of data need to be transferred between computers or devices.
I'm not sure if NVMe has any problematic secrets, but I think it's probably no more than the older hardware types.
I found that the drive is not compatible with APFS.
I have noticed an intermittent glitch with the external solid state drive.
95% praised its rugged and durable design, though 5% experienced damage after a drop
I was impressed with the sturdy aluminum construction of the drive, which adds to its durability and helps to keep it cool during heavy use.
I find the unit durable with its metal shell and additional silicone sleeve. I have dropped it before and the sleeve helped keep it dent-free.
I have been dissatisfied with the durability of many big name drives over the years. They fail to sustain their transfer speeds and plummet to sub 100MB/sec transfer speeds when their cache is exhausted and/or they overheat.
96% praised for its fast data transfer speeds, while 4% experienced slow loading times
The external solid-state drive has impressive performance with a bit more speed for large sequential reads and writes, assuming I have a 20 Gbps USB port.
The performance of the Rocket Nano V2 drive is not consistent. Every subsequent transfer takes about 2 seconds longer.
I noticed that the old Sabrent reached 110F and exceeded its thermal junction.
95% liked its compact and lightweight design
I installed a PCIe USB 3.2 card in my Dell mini tower and the Rocket Nano showed read/write speeds of a bit over 1000 MBps, which is more like what I would expect from an external SSD.
I have plenty of space for all my documents, photos, videos, and programs with the 1 TB model.
