I tested the CD/DVD drive with my iMac and it was immediately recognized. I inserted an audio CD and the Music app launched and played the CD.
I easily recognized the device on my laptop and it can play and burn CDs and DVDs without any issues.
USB is backwards compatible, so it can be plugged into any USB port.
