About ASUS ZenDrive V1M External DVD Drive and Writer
Overall Feedback:
75% positive
95% liked the data transfer speed, but 5% raised issues
I was able to rip several CDs without errors using this drive, which I couldn't with my previous drives. It's super fast.
I needed an external burner with a decent bus speed and no dedicated power supply. This product met those requirements, but I am concerned about dropping it.
85% highlighted the software compatibility
The external disc reader/writer works perfectly for my needs and is compatible with Windows 11. It's also compact and stays in place very well.
82% liked the connectivity options, but 18% disagreed
Connecting the drive is easy, just plug it into a USB port. It's a plug and play device.
This device has good connectivity options and worked out of the box for me.
I noticed that despite the DVD being inserted, MacOS recognizes the device but no volumes mount.
The drive is compact and nice, but it draws too much power and I get an error message when I try to connect it to any port.
86% appreciated its compatibility with devices, but 14% didn't
On my Dell XPS laptop using Windows 11 Pro, the device was instantly recognized.
I purchased this drive for use with my Macbook Pro (M1 Pro chip) and it only runs for a moment and then completely locks up.
93% were satisfied with the noise level, but 7% raised issues
This external CD/DVD drive works and sounds like I am used to in my last few desktop computers.
At first, the unit is noisy but it calms down and gets quiet.
The external cd-dvd drive works fine with my windows laptop and Raspberry Pi 4. I played music CDs, a DVD, and opened a data CD-ROM. VLC media player seemed to run into a problem playing past the anti-piracy warnings, but I think it was probably a settings issue on my end, not a fault of the device.
I plugged in the external CD-DVD drive and used the DVD player to play a DVD, and it worked fine.
