I got rid of my hex bells because they were rough on my hands and unpleasant to handle. I prefer neoprene dumbbells but these barbells have great grip. Usually, barbells are not easy to handle and you expect to wear gloves to protect your hands. But I dont need gloves to handle these, though the set does include some soft fabric ones to prevent slippage if my hands get sweaty.
