Experiential insights by users
About LG 6,000 BTU (DOE) / 8,000 BTU (ASHRAE) Portable Air Conditioner
Overall Feedback:
84% positive
71% highlighted the control options, yet 29% found them complex
As long as I point the remote towards the control board, it works fine.
I found it easy to control the evaporative-cooler with the remote control and on/off time programming.
I found the remote control feature of the evaporative-cooler convenient to use and was satisfied with it.
The internal thermostat of the evaporative-cooler does not work at all.
84% liked the cooling capacity ; nonetheless, 16% found it insufficient
The biggest issue I faced was the lack of an option to keep the fan continuously ON in cool mode.
76% found it energy efficient; but 24% noticed a spike
My electricity bill has not been high, averaging about $160 a month for the last 3 months.
I compared the energy efficiency of this evaporative-cooler with other similar ones and found it to be inefficient as it always runs at 950 to 1000 watts, which is higher than the energy consumption of other similar products.
68% were satisfied with the filter quality; although 32% weren't
As far as upkeep, all I have to do is clean the filter when the indicator turns on.
I received a product with a dirty filter covered in pets and human hair, which was disappointing.
I expected the evaporative cooler to at least minimally purify the air, but it has no air filter at all. It is not effective with wildfires or pollution.
83% found it quiet to operate,; however, 17% noticed vibration
I find that the product cools well and the noise levels are satisfactory for a portable cooler.
The evaporative-cooler makes noise in my bedroom, but it doesn't bother me.
The device creates some noise, but it's not too loud.
The AC has a deal breaking flaw of noise. It makes horrible clicking noises.
When I used a DB meter app, I found that the noise level of the evaporative-cooler was over 85DB when directly near it, which is misleading.
While running, the unit produces a loud noise.
79% appreciated the water tank capacity; however, 21% found it cumbersome
After using it for 2 months in hot weather, I did not have to empty the water tank, even though I was initially worried it would fill up quickly.
I am happy with the current unit as it can handle more water than the other unit which shut down after dumping each gallon.
I have used both units and noticed that the other unit shuts down for each gallon dumped while this unit released 5 gallons of water. This indicates a difference in water tank capacity. Based on my experience, I can say that this unit is more efficient.
I was able to collect 2 gallons of water in an 8 hour run time, indicating the water tank capacity of the evaporative-cooler.
It's hard for me to sleep with the noise. The unit turns on and off as needed to keep the temperature, which makes the noise come and go, and they are very loud.
The unit is not energy efficient as it only raises the room temperature by 10 degrees.
