About Hessaire MC18M Portable Evaporative Cooler
77% appreciated the water tank capacity
I found it easy to move the evaporative-cooler around, but haven't tried it with a full tank of water yet.
I use a refillable water tank since I live off grid and bring in all my water. If I had a well or were hooked to city water, I could hook a garden hose directly to it.
The unit has a float valve that functions like a toilet tank and allows water in from the hose as the water level gets lower.
82% found it quiet to operate,; however, 18% noticed vibration
When placed on high, the noise level is loud and water circulating noise is heard when the water gets low.
The fan of my evaporative-cooler is very noisy and scares my animals. I can tolerate the noise level only because I need it for a short period of time and I don't use it while sleeping.
75% were satisfied with the filter quality; although 25% weren't
I found a lot of debris in the water from the filter/backing, which made me return the product.
I don't like the smell of the cardboard filter. Another filter material like coconut fiber matting could have been used to avoid the toxic odor.
Most evaporative humidifiers have a major design flaw where 1/2 to 2/3 of the filter is submerged in water, making them ineffective.
74% found it energy efficient
I use the cooler every time it hits 88 and up, and I take specific steps to propagate the flow of cool air.
I compared the energy efficiency of my evaporative cooler with my A/C unit. The cooler pulls only 65w on low, whereas my A/C unit pulls 1725w. The cost difference between the two shows that the cooler is much more energy-efficient than the A/C unit.
The standout feature of this portable swamp cooler is its energy efficiency. It pulls only a fraction of the electricity compared to my A/C unit, which is great for my utility bills and environmental footprint.
87% liked the cooling capacity ; nonetheless, 13% found it insufficient
Refrigerating water and putting it in the cooler's base made a remarkable difference in the cooling effect.
I attempted to cool my 220 sq ft Florida room to a comfortable temperature of 78 F, even though the product is capable of cooling 500 sq ft.
71% highlighted the control options, yet  29% found them complex
I appreciate the solid rotating switch of the cooler over a push button panel. If it was digitally controlled, I couldn't use a timer to control it.
I have a small gripe with the mechanical clicking dial to go through all the settings and would prefer touch buttons or a smoother clicking.
