About Frigidaire FHPC082AC1 Portable Room Air Conditioner
Overall Feedback:
85% positive
76% highlighted the control options, yet 24% found them complex
I am having trouble with the remote control, but it is easy to control by pushing the buttons on the top.
The remote control is a nice feature of the evaporative-cooler.
The evaporative-cooler comes with a remote control that has an LCD display and beeps when a button is pressed to let me know that the command was received.
I can set the timer to turn off the evaporative-cooler after a few hours, but I need to use the remote.
The control options on the unit do not match the options on my remote. For example, my remote has a swing option that the unit does not have.
The remote control does nothing 75% of the time, even when I am standing next to it.
The remote only works when I am just a few feet away and directly in front of the AC unit.
72% found it energy efficient; but 28% noticed a spike
During the summertime in south Florida, the unit requires a lot of energy to run and has caused an increase in my electric bill.
I had to call an electrician to fix the damage to my house. The electrician said he has seen too many cases where it draws too much energy on the circuit.
71% were satisfied with the filter quality; although 29% weren't
I have checked the filters and ensured the exhaust hose is properly leveled and air intake paths are not blocked, but the unit still does not work as expected.
84% found it quiet to operate,; however, 16% noticed vibration
This unit is easily tolerable white noise and not much louder than a typical house fan.
This unit is not much louder than a typical house fan and has no obnoxious banging noises or anything when the AC kicks on. The auto mode just runs continuously with either a fan or the AC + fan.
This evaporative-cooler may not be suitable for use in a bedroom if I am a light sleeper as it is not very quiet.
On the low setting, the noise level of the unit is really high.
I expected the air compressor to run all night, regardless of the room's temperature, with 'auto' mode disabled. The cycle repeated nearly every 30 minutes, all night, waking me up each time the unit's air compressor turned on or off.
I have noticed that the controls of the evaporative-coolers are very sensitive to accidental touch by kids and their toys. Unfortunately, there is no child lock-out feature, so the only option is to tape a box over the controls.
