After cutting off the extra, I noticed that the edge of the cable tie was extremely sharp. It's better to leave the edges on.
The zip ties have poor tensile strength and slip easily when trying to hold a heavy umbrella against the deck post.
The tensile strength of these electrical-cable-ties is poor as some of them just slide apart even after tightening. I wouldn't trust them with 250lbs or even 5lbs.
