To use the tie wrap tool, insert at least two inches of tie wrap before engaging the grip jaws to tighten.

Occasionally, when I cinch down a zip tie, it doesn't want to bite. But if I bend the zip tie in either direction, it'll grab.
I have found that the tool does not work well with cheap plastic tie wraps as they tend to snap before being fully tensioned.

It's not hard to keep tension with the main clamp mechanism while pulling the second lever to clip the tie wrap, even though the more gun looking ones with a single trigger are a little easier to use.
These cable ties are a dream for crafting. They make quick work of tightening and smoothly cutting the tails without leaving any rough edges.
