About Ernie Ball Super Slinky Classic Pure Nickel Electric Guitar Strings, 9-42 Gauge
Overall Feedback:
97% positive
94% appreciated the comfortable playing feel
The strings feel heavenly - smooth, soft, elegant, and strong.
83% praised the effective corrosion resistance
These pure nickel guitar strings have good corrosion resistance and have lasted at least twice as long as the usual nickel coated Ernie Balls strings.
92% liked the smooth playing experience
The lighter gauge strings have a nice ring and easy bending action, while the heavier strings provide a crunchy, pronounced bottom end for depth and punchy rhythms, clean or distorted, and full chord sounds.
These strings feel easy on my fingers and are beginner-friendly to play.
These strings are the greatest I have had and I absolutely recommend them to newbies. I compared the price with other brands and found it to be cheaper.
I did not expect such a small change in gauge size to make such a big difference in the feel and tone of the strings.
92% appreciated the long-lasting strings
I have found that these pure nickel guitar strings last twice as long as the usual nickel coated Ernie Balls strings.
I have never had any issues with premature strings breaking or going dead.
90% praised the tone quality
The tone quality of the strings is incredible. I have compared it with that of a 70s rock band.
I am a fan of pure nickel wrap because it tones down the highs and creates great low and midrange tone. I used to use the old 5150 strings and loved them. These strings are the closest thing I have found to those old 5150s.
Ernie Ball Hybrids have the best tone, sustain, and playability. The lighter gauge 1st, 2nd, and 3rd strings have a nice ring and easy bending action, paired with the heavier 4th, 5th, and 6th strings for a crunchy, pronounced bottom end that really adds depth and punchy, growling rhythms, clean or distorted/overdriven, and extremely full chord sounds.
I can definitely hear a warmer, more resonant tone out of the wound strings.
The nickel wound strings feel smooth and are easy on my fingers, making long playing sessions more comfortable.
