About Blackstone 22-Inch Electric Griddle
Overall Feedback:
78% positive
70% liked the cooking surface area, though 30% found it small
It still works well, but not suitable for searing steak.
I have complained that the cooking surface affects the performance of the unit by not being flat.
I faced an issue with the cooking surface area of my electric-griddle. The normally flat surface bubbled up when hot and the onions slid over to the edge. I also read reviews online that a lot of people experienced the same thing - eggs would run to the edges. Even replacements had the same problem. Thus, I sent it back and am buying another inexpensive product.
71% liked the durable construction, but 29% experienced wear and tear
The griddle detaches easily from the electrical base, making it easy to clean up if there is a spill.
The electric-griddle has held up fairly well despite heavy use. However, there are some dark discolored spots on the non-stick cooktop that have developed and the Blackstone logo is starting to come off the handle of the lid.
68% praised the even heat distribution, while 32% experienced hotspots
The heat distribution was not up to the mark.
It takes a long time for me to reach the desired temperature.
I am not sure if the electric griddle is powerful enough or if the gap between the heating elements is causing it to struggle to reach 350 degrees.
73% appreciated the non-stick surface, but 27% didn't
I have complained about the non-stick surface of the electric griddle. It is not suitable for griddles as it cannot be used with metal instruments like a spatula or a metal knife. The surface gets ruined if a metal knife is used.
The non-stick surface of my electric griddle bubbled up when hot and the onions slid over to the edge twice while cooking.
73% liked the portability, though 27% found it heavy
I bought the griddle with the stand/cart that holds it and definitely recommend it. It's pretty huge and requires a ton of counter space, but with the cart, it's a nice standalone appliance that can easily be rolled around and stored out of the way.
The handle on the lid has a bow in the plastic, indicating poor portability of the electric-griddle.
68% praised the temperature control, but 32% experienced inconsistencies
The electric-griddle has a major flaw with its temperature control. When an item is placed on the unit, the temperature drops dramatically, which is problematic if I'm trying to sear a steak as it ends up being sauted instead.
As soon as I put food on the griddle, it drops to 250F and never increases the temperature again.
My biggest complaint is that the cooktop has a hard time maintaining its temperature.
The griddle does not heat up properly, regardless of the temperature set, and stays at around 250 degrees.
The cooking surface is large enough for me to eat pancakes at the same time instead of taking turns.
