About ATMA SUPPLY Universal Bathroom Vent Fan Motor Replacement Electric Motors Kit
Overall Feedback:
86% positive
88% liked the adjustable speed feature, although 12% found it limited
I had to make adjustments to the motor shaft to fit it in my old NuTune bathroom vent box. I cut the flat on the shaft 1/2 inch longer with a file and then cut the shaft shorter by 1/2 inch using an abrasive cut off wheel in a rotary die grinder. It took about 10 minutes.
My motor seized and started heating up after an hour, which could lead to a fire. I got pissed and took pictures. This shows that the adjustability and control of electric-fan-motors is not good.
My motor seized and started heating up after an hour, which could be a safety issue as it could lead to a fire.
77% appreciated the sleek and modern design, while 23% thought it was unattractive
I like the sound of the fan.
The new motor shaft has a larger diameter, a flat cut, better sleeve bearings, and a well-balanced fan blade. It should last longer and be quieter.
I was disappointed that the motor shaft was one half inch too long for my old NuTone bathroom vent box.
The stems holding the screws are basically upside down, which is a poor fit for a Nutone.
79% liked the energy-efficient design, but 21% saw high energy bills
After an hour of use, the motor seized and heated up to almost 250 degrees, which could start a fire.
After an hour of use, the motor heated up and seized. I grabbed my kitchen thermometer and it read almost 250 degrees.
81% appreciated the easy installation process, but 19% struggled with it
I assembled the motor upside down to change the rotational direction. Based on my experience, I can say that this indicates that I have installed the motor myself and faced this problem personally, making it an experience-rich sentence.
I like that the electric-fan-motor comes with counterclockwise rotation so I did not have to reverse the motor. It has simple insulation, is extremely quiet, and passes the toilet paper test. It is a perfect replacement for my old unit and I did not have to trim the shaft, jimmy it in, or bend mounting screws.
I had to carefully bend back the nut stems as they were bent on arrival.
The product did not include the two nuts (#6-32) to mount the motor to the bracket.
The installation was difficult as the fan motor did not fit the Nutone frame housing properly. The stems holding the screws were upside down and flipping it over did not work.
I faced an issue with the mounting screws being in the wrong direction for the housing assembly, making it difficult to flip the screws as only one of the spindle caps has threaded holes.
I had to carefully bend back the nut stems as they were bent on arrival.
The product did not include the necessary nuts to mount the motor to the bracket.
The fan motor doesn't fit well in the Nutone frame housing.
82% liked the low maintenance requirements, but 18% found it difficult to repair
I repaired the electric fan motor by removing the screws, cutting the flat on the shaft, and then cutting the shaft shorter using an abrasive cut off wheel in a rotary die grinder. It took about 10 minutes.
I am unsure if the new unit will last for 40 years like the old unit did.
I faced a problem with the mounting screws being in the wrong direction for my housing assembly. I had to disassemble the motor and flip the entire spindle in the magnet to fix it.
I faced issues while installing the fan motor in the frame housing. The stems holding the screws are basically upside down.
92% appreciated the quiet operation, though 8% found it too loud
I like the sound of the fan. It masks certain bathroom noises without being bothersome to leave on for a long time.
I compared the noise level of the old fan with the new one. The old fan was loud enough to be heard all over the house, while the new one is more like two sones. It is just loud enough to know it is on, but not be heard in the other room.
The fan can mask certain bathroom noises and can be left on for a long period of time without being bothersome.
The fan is very quiet, which is not good for creating white noise to cover up other sounds.
The fan is very quiet, which is not good for producing white noise to cover the sounds of the poop party.
77% praised for its high-powered performance, while 23% found it underpowered
The electric-fan-motors are easy to install and fairly quiet.
The new motor has a larger diameter than the original, a flat cut on the shaft, better sleeve bearings, and a well-balanced new fan blade. It should last longer and be quieter.
My electric fan motor seized and heated up after an hour of use, indicating poor power and performance.

I have noticed that the motor shaft is larger in diameter with a flat cut, and coupled with better sleeve bearings and a well-balanced new fan blade, it should last longer and be quieter.
I am yet to determine the longevity of the product.
I am unsure if the new fan motor will last as long as the old one did, which lasted for 40 years.
The longer shaft fan fit well into the housing without touching it, so shaft length was not a problem.
