I need to remove and reinstall the two screws and the two motor end frames in opposite sides as the mounting screw threads of the original motor are facing in the same direction as the shaft.
86% liked the low maintenance requirements, but 14% found it difficult to repair
I couldn't find a replacement for my old fan motor, so I took measurements and found the closest match.
On the 688, the original motor's mounting screw threads face the same direction as the shaft. Therefore, I need to remove and reinstall the two screws and two motor end frames on opposite sides.
I had to remove the plastic cover and noticed that the metal mounting plate had two tabs on one side and one tab on the opposite side. I used a flat-blade screwdriver and pushed up about a quarter inch on the side with one tab. When the tab cleared the slot, I inserted the screwdriver behind the tab to clear the slot as I slipped the metal plate downward. Once that side was clear of the housing, the side with two slots was easily removed.
I faced a problem with the electric fan motor and had to take out its guts to make it work. It would have been nice if there were instructions on how to reverse the motor.
Installing the blowers was easy and reversing their direction was important due to the orientation of the ductwork.
