I installed the motor on the other side of the motor housing and it works great.
After replacing the old motor and fan with this new one, the rattles were immediately gone and my sanity was back.
I installed the fan shaft on the other side of the motor housing, which fixed the issue of the motor spinning in the wrong direction.
The fan is not as quiet as my brand new fan in the upstairs bathroom, but it is still quiet enough for an old fan design.

92% appreciated the easy installation process, but 8% struggled with it
After installing the new motor and fan, my sanity was back and the rattles were immediately gone.
I was careful and measured everything to ensure that the fan motor fit perfectly in the laundry room fan box.
While installing the motor, I had to measure the shaft length on the original motor I was replacing. I found that most of the fan shafts, online and in-store, measure 3/16 X 1 3/4 (1.75) inches, which was just a bit too long for what I needed. This particular fan motor shaft measured 3/16 X 1 1/2 (1.5) inches which was what I needed to make it fit.
I noticed that the mounting screws are installed upside down compared to my old fan motor. This makes the threaded motor part on the wrong side. Nothing is holding the motor together. The screws are just alignment pins now.
Rephrased: The mounting screws are installed upside down compared to my old fan motor, making the threaded motor part on the wrong side and leaving nothing to hold the motor together. The screws now serve as alignment pins.
To fix the issue with the mounting screws being installed upside down compared to the old fan motor, I need to use the nuts from the old fan on the motor housing before assembling it to the shroud.
89% liked the low maintenance requirements, but 11% found it difficult to repair
After replacing the old motor and fan with this one, the rattles were immediately gone and my sanity was back.
I found this fan to be a great replacement for my old one which had a rattling sound. It saved me a lot of time and money.
I replaced the motor base and installed it on the other side of the motor housing. After bolting it together, it works great now.
I used the original screws from the old motor because they fit better for my vent space.
I noticed that the mounting screws are installed upside down compared to my old fan motor, which makes the threaded motor part on the wrong side. I had to use the nuts from the old fan on the motor housing before assembling it to the shroud as nothing was holding the motor together. This resulted in the fan blades being too long, which hit the fan shroud. Trimming the blades could cause them to spin out of balance, which would have the same results. Overall, I am dissatisfied with the maintenance and repair of electric-fan-motors.
I complained about the installation screws being upside down compared to my old fan motor. The motor is not holding together and the screws are just alignment pins now. To fix that, I had to use the nuts from the old fan on the motor housing before assembling it to the shroud. This resulted in the fan blades being too long, which hit the fan shroud. I warn others to run away from this product unless they love a mechanical challenge.

I had to remove the plastic cover and noticed that the metal mounting plate had two tabs on one side and one tab on the opposite side. I used a flat-blade screwdriver and pushed up about a quarter inch on the side with one tab. When the tab cleared the slot, I inserted the screwdriver behind the tab to clear the slot as I slipped the metal plate downward. Once that side was clear of the housing, the side with two slots was easily removed.
I couldn't beat the price for a fan that is more than I need for that size.
