About Prepworks by Progressive Compact Egg Slicer
68% appreciated the versatility, but 32% found it limited
The egg-slicer is not just limited to eggs, it is great for slicing, dicing, and cubing avocado and tomatoes too.
The egg slicer is versatile and can make several different types of cuts. It is also easy to do cross cuts for chopped eggs in egg salad.
I find that the egg slicer has limited versatility due to the thin wires, but with the other two attachments, it seems to have more versatility.
I experimented with the egg slicer using mushrooms and strawberries, but it did not cut them well. I was a bit scared based on the comments I saw on Amazon from other users. The skin of the mushrooms gets caught at the bottom a lot and makes slicing difficult. I had to use force, which made me nervous of damaging the product.
69% liked the user-friendly design, although 31% didn't
The egg-slicer is kid-friendly and safe for them to use with the heavy-duty bottom flap to push fruit through the cutter.
This is my favorite design for apple slicers. The panel on the bottom swings up after pushing the cutter through the apple, pushing the bottom of the apple through the blades so that the slices come out cleanly.
The egg-slicer's ergonomic design makes it safer and easier to press down harder when slicing.
I find the design inconvenient and did not expect the two pieces being together to affect the outcome.
62% were impressed with the safety features
The hinge safety cover not only protects from accidents but also helps in pushing the apple through the slicer for perfect slices every time.
The safety cover gives me less worry in the kitchen.
67% found it easy to clean, whereas 33% struggled
It is easier to clean and does not require sticking fingers in to pull out the remaining pieces.
It's easy to clean the egg-slicer if you do it right after coring an apple and don't let it sit overnight with fruit pieces on it.
It is very difficult to clean after regular use.
67% appreciated the durable construction, but 33% didn't
The construction is not durable enough as a wire broke while slicing an egg after 3 months.
68% highlighted the quality of blades, but 32% didn't
My apple slicer's blade is not very sharp and struggles to cut through any apple.
After slicing ten apples or pears within the first few weeks, the blades became dull.
