The sound quality and volume on the tape is essentially the same as with the TV and the VCR motor is noiseless.
I had to turn the sound on the TV all the way up to max just to hear anything because the sound is recorded so low. Sometimes there is no sound at all.
While playing a cassette, I experienced a buzz in the audio channels that was as loud as the sound tract at the start of each tape and less loud as the tape played.
