The dryer balls are reusable and there is no static, harsh chemicals or difference from traditional dryer sheets.
Dryer balls help remove a lot of pet fur from clothes in the dry cycle. It's not a 100% removal rate, but a quick use of a sticky roller after removes 99% of the visible fur. This has improved my cleaning process.
