About PANDAFLY White Charcoal Pencils Drawing Set
Overall Feedback:
84% positive
88% liked the easy blending
I used a smudge stick to blend colors and smooth the charcoal rubbings for uniformity.
The pencils blend fairly well and do not crumble or crack.
75% liked the comfortable grip, but 25% found it small
This set is nice for me to have in my on-location sketching set because of the variety of colors and ease of use, implying that the grip of the pencils is comfortable to hold during use.
So far, the pencils have sharpened okay and performed well.
I have complained about the grip of the pencils, specifically the pressed wood. It is difficult to carve into it, even with a sharp knife, and it is not sharpening friendly unless you use sandpaper and a lot of patience.
72% were impressed with the color accurcy
I have sketched for a long time but never had brown pencils, which are included in this set.
I am able to write on top of regular charcoal pencil, colored pencil, art pencils, black marker, and acrylic paint. I am happy because my white color pencils are useless.
85% found it durable, but 15% experienced tip breakage
My biggest gripe with the pencils is the wood. The charcoal cores are pretty solid, but they break easily as if they were compressed sand.
78% praised the lead quality, but 22% experienced breakage
The lead is strong, not like a number 2 pencil.
The pencils are solid and can accept a decent amount of pressure while drawing. They do not crumble or crack and blend fairly well.
I found the pencils too thin and light, resulting in poor color representation.
76% appreciated the line consistency, though 24% didn't
The soft pencil lives up to its name, but I would classify it as equivalent to a medium from Generals. It is usable but still needs a firm press.
68% found it easy to sharpen, but 32% had trouble
Sharpening pencils is easy and the tips come to a nice point.
With an electric sharpener, pencils sharpen well, but be careful with the points.
I have complained about the sharpening ease of the pencils. The pressed wood requires a sharp knife and the charcoal cores break easily. They are not sharpening friendly unless sandpaper and patience are used.
I have used the pencils with pan pastels and colored with them in coloring books using a blending stump for a cool antique effect.
