About Castle Art Supplies 120 Colored Pencils Zip-Up Set perfect for all artists
Overall Feedback:
91% positive
92% liked the easy blending
I found that using colored pencils for a portrait was easy as they blend well and erase wonderfully, which is usually difficult with colored pencils.
Prismacolor & Faber-Castell pencils lay down color smoothly and richly, minimizing the need for blending or layering to achieve desired color depth or transitions.
The pencils go on smoothly, layer well, blend excellently and sharpen easily without any issues.
It was my first time using colored pencil to make a portrait and it blended well and erased wonderfully, which is usually hard to do with colored pencils.
84% found it easy to sharpen, but 16% had trouble
The pencils hold their point well, indicating they are easy to sharpen and use for drawing.
The pencils sharpen easily without breaking, which is a positive aspect of the product.
Our pencils are organized and last long before needing sharpening.
I have noticed that traditional pencil sharpeners do not sharpen pencils well.
85% were impressed with the color accurcy, though 15% weren't
I am disappointed with the product as there are 10 shades of every color but not the actual color, indicating a lack of color accuracy.
I couldn't differentiate between 030 purple light and 029 purple.
I compared Castle brand colored pencils with another brand and found them to be faded and dull. The pencils have way more wax than pigment, making it difficult to get true colors. I had to press extremely hard to get color, which resulted in burning through the paper before I could get true white. It is also difficult to blend the colors well because they leave so much wax on the paper, which prevents other pigments from saturating after the first layer is applied.
I noticed that I was missing the 'Davys Gray' pencil while filling out the tester sheet.
I was missing the 'Davys Gray' pencil while filling out the tester sheet.
In some cases, the pencil end color does not match the actual lead color and can be somewhat off.
87% found it durable
I love the case of the larger set.
85% praised the lead quality, but 15% experienced breakage
I tried sharpening the tips and leads, but 60% of them were still broken. The colored pencils seem to be of poor quality as more than 50% of the leads were broken.
84% appreciated the line consistency, though 16% didn't
Some colors feel scratchy when I lay them down on paper.
I like the way the pencils mix and blend and they go on the paper well both wet and dry.
