About XPPen Artist Pro 16 Gen2 2.5K 16 inch QHD Drawing Tablet
Overall Feedback:
67% positive
64% appreciated the battery life, though 36% found it drained quickly
Within two days of use, I noticed multiple micro-scratches on the surface of the pad, indicating poor battery life.
Rephrased: The pad's surface accumulated multiple micro-scratches within two days of use, indicating poor battery life.
I compared the tablet with another one and found that it is less sturdy, has a less smooth screen, and the calibration is not always precise.
67% praised the seamless compatibility, while 33% experienced issues
Xp-pen products are a good alternative to Wacom, but they come with some driver issues due to the compatibility with windows 10 updates.
I have to fiddle around with settings for almost 10 hours until the tablet works fine, as it has compatibility issues with Lazy Nezumi, Displayfusion, and even Windows Ink.
The program is not compatible with my tablet.
I couldn't find a compatible cord for the device on Amazon.
Adobe CC is required for the tablet to be compatible with Photoshop cs6 or earlier.
I found it difficult to find answers to my issues and the FAQ was not helpful. The customer support email/helpline is available but I am not sure if it would be helpful.
71% appreciated the customizable options, but 29% found them limited
I loved the option of programming express keys to every software that I need differently. It works even with just the tablet monitor on and my laptop screen closed.
I am frustrated with the product's FAQ. It covers some prominent issues but is filled with unhelpful information. However, there is a customer support email/helpline available.
79% praised the drawing accuracy, while 21% experienced some lag
For the price I purchased it, the tablet has a bright screen and accurate calibration that eliminates parallax for a long time.
I got pretty good at using the tablets, but being able to draw on the device I'm looking at is a whole different level of intuitiveness.
I rely on drawing near the center of the screen and it feels nice to watch the strokes appear as my pen flows across the panel.
The size of the tablet is great and the pencil tracks well, indicating good drawing accuracy.
The screen is bright and the calibration is accurate enough to get rid of parallax for a long period of time.
It took me a while to adjust my brush settings and sensitivity pressure curve in the tablet settings to make my brushes work as I was used to, despite the 8000+ levels of sensitivity sounding amazing on paper.
When I used the tablet while holding it in my lap or sitting on my desk, I experienced calibration issues. However, I found that the tablet is more accurate when used with a stand or angle.
68% praised the durable construction, but 32% faced issues
I can feel that the screen is sturdy and can withstand deep pressure while drawing.
Occasional connection issues may occur and the tablet may become unresponsive, but unplugging and plugging it back in resolves the issue about 99% of the time.
I am concerned about connection issues down the line due to the wobble in the C type end that mates with the display. I encountered similar problems with my Wacom Cintiq 13HD after 10 years of wear and tear.
I dropped the stylus from my desk twice and noticed that the pressure malfunctioned, indicating that the tablet is not durable enough.
Rephrased: The tablet is not durable enough as I dropped the stylus from my desk twice and noticed that the pressure malfunctioned.
Since it arrived 3 years ago, my tablet has been glitchy and has other issues like a cheap-looking screen, settings that dont work, and touch that is off center and slow no matter how often I calibrate it.
67% liked the portable design
I gave a rating of 10/10 for the portability of the graphics tablet.
The product has a perfectly sized display and is solid.
The tablet is easy to carry around as it is light weight but sturdy.
I love the tablet's weight and the outstanding drawing experience it provides.
72% appreciated the pressure sensitivity, though 28% didn't
If you want an even pressure on the low end that feels evenly distributed, you will never get to use all 8000 unless I press so hard that I break the screen.
My tablet's sensitivity part broke and it registers like I'm clicking down at all times even when I'm just hovering above the tablet.
I appreciate the new 8K pen pressure, but the lack of tilt functionality is a drawback for me and the reason for my 4-star rating.
70% praised the high-resolution, though 30% found it lacking
The screen clarity is gorgeous and just about as refined as my iMac retina.
After using it for a few days, I found that the initial rough texture of the device settles into a nice balance between smooth and a near paper texture.
The tablet works great in Clip Studio, Mischief, Sketchbook (with some strokes wobbling), and Medibang.
If you want even pressure on the low end that feels evenly distributed, you'll never get to use all 8000 unless I press so hard that I break the screen.
I can still draw just fine with the pen that came with the tablet, but it could feel better if it was heavier.
The tablet display needs to be readjusted in terms of resolution and calibration.
67% liked the tilt recognition, while 33% experienced glitches
The tablet has about 90% accuracy in terms of tilt recognition.
I have had several drawing tablets in the past but never a drawing monitor. The difference is night and day, indicating that the tablet has tilt recognition feature.
As a professional 3d artist, I find the tablet lacking tilt functionality in the pen to be a drawback.
I had to calibrate the pen multiple times and even after calibration, the accuracy was off when I powered down and turned it back on.
The pen required frequent calibration and lost accuracy after powering down.
Within two days of use, I noticed multiple micro-scratches on the surface of the pad, indicating poor battery life.
Rephrased: The pad's surface accumulated multiple micro-scratches within two days of use, indicating poor battery life.
I wish I had bought this tablet at the start because it doesn't require a 1x AAA battery for the pen like my previous Huion 420 tablet, which made me feel awkward due to the weight from the battery, especially during spins.
