I found that the playpen has a flexible wire frame that can be un-twisted to form a flat rectangle shape. After un-twisting, I needed to insert eight rods into channels to form a cube large enough for one or two adult cats.
The playpen is a solid size for my cat to play in and my large dog fits fine in there for time outs. However, it is not very roomy for my dog. Thus, I recommend it for smaller pets.
The playpen is secure and sturdy when upright, but it could be dangerous for small animals if set up outdoors in the wind.
