I have learned how to adjust the sock to fit my dog's paw. I bunch the sock up so that there is just the tip to slide over the front of the paw, tuck dew claws in, and then carefully pull the neck of sock up the rest of the leg.
I tried using socks and an e-collar on my dog, but he managed to take them off. However, shoes worked for him.
I have noticed that the back paws fit better with these socks than the front paws.
The velcro on the dog-paw-protectors can damage socks if not handled carefully, as I have warned.
