I have used a digital-to-analog-signal-converter to drive my older Bose V30 audio system from a new Roku Ultra. The Bose cannot pass 4K video, so I use this box to split out an optical audio stream the Bose can cope with. The video passthrough of 4K UHD is perfect, audio is 5.1 as advertised and sounds great, and the audio sync is actually an improvement over the previous Roku (which had its own optical-out).

The adapter is useless for the intended purpose as it is not recognized as an audio device like a soundbar.
I purchased a 4K Bluray player that only used HDMI output for sound, so I got an HDMI audio extractor with coaxial output. However, the quality is very low.
I found that the device is advertised as suitable for driving headphones, but it is not entirely fit for that purpose.

I noticed that the new HDMI splitter did not work properly with my 1440p and 120hz setup. However, it worked without any issues when I switched back to it. This indicates that the conversion accuracy of digital-to-analog-signal-converters is good for this product.
Rephrased: The HDMI splitter did not work with my 1440p and 120hz setup, but worked fine when I switched back to it. This indicates good conversion accuracy for this product's digital-to-analog signal converters.

The only drawback I found was that the stereo jack to RCA cable was not long enough for my setup, but I had a longer one in my drawer of misfit cables.
I noticed that the volume is lower than other sources into my amp.
I am dissatisfied with the audio output of the device as it is not suitable for driving headphones, despite being advertised as such.
I purchased a new Bluray player that only had HDMI output for sound, so I bought an HDMI audio extractor with coaxial output. Unfortunately, it turned out to be of very low quality.
The extractor is not suitable for driving headphones. An amp is needed to properly drive a set of headphones, which defeats the purpose of getting such a small, USB-powered extractor.

I have found that this device is suitable for driving self-amplifying devices like speakers, but not for headphones.
The device doesn't change the HDMI identifier, causing issues with Linux (Kubuntu Lunar) as it doesn't detect available audio and doesn't provide the option to redirect sound.
