I connected the HDMI from PS5 to the converter, ran an optic cable to the receiver, an HDMI to the projector, and got sound and video together.
The product is not compatible with newer devices as it does not support current HDMI (2.1).
The digital-to-analog-signal-converter destroys any video signal and is completely incompatible.

After using a different HDMI cable, the HDMI audio extractor started working well.
I hooked up the device as plug and play and it works, but it narrows the soundstage of my system.
The signal is not passing through or the PS5 thinks something unauthorized is in the way and downconverting the signal.
The product does not support current HDMI (2.1), which makes it incompatible with newer devices and I won't be able to get 4k content.
The only negative aspect of the unit is that the optical out socket is loose.

I have used a digital-to-analog-signal-converter to drive my older Bose V30 audio system from a new Roku Ultra. The video passthrough of 4K UHD is perfect, audio is 5.1 as advertised and sounds great, and the audio sync is actually an improvement over the previous Roku (which had its own optical-out).
I have mentioned that the product works with both Netflix and Amazon Prime, indicating its compatibility with these platforms.
Rephrased: The product is compatible with both Netflix and Amazon Prime.
