I easily connected it to both my Samsung phone and my wife's iPhone, following the steps mentioned.

I had to use a wall socket expansion adapter to use the digital-to-analog-signal-converter. Be aware of this and have something similar wherever you go to use it.
I tried the Bluetooth function of the device, but it was defective and created a hum noise through the speakers. The music streamed via Bluetooth was also dull and lackluster.
