About PROZOR DAC Converter 192Khz Digital to Analog Audio Converter
Overall Feedback:
84% positive
85% appreciated the wide compatibility, though 15% experienced issues
I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the DAC in this unit. It is pretty good for mid-fi audio gear and I recommend it just for the DAC alone.
I connected the unit to the optical output of my Samsung smart TV (8 series) and it produced good sound on my external stereo receiver.
I found a digital to analog converter that can relay 5.1 audio output from my new Sony TV to my older Technics receiver/amplifier with surround sound, and I am happy about it.
I had to isolate the noise introduced by the device with an isolator or using my own adapter that handles this.
This device only accepts Dolby Digital, not the more common Dolby Digital Plus, which limits our connectivity.
84% praised the conversion accuracy, while 16% experienced distortion
The sound quality is not great, but the converter performs well and solves my problem.
For the price, this device works well and solves my problem, although the sound quality is not great.
The device cannot handle Dolby Digital Plus as per the documentation. For high level conversion, one must purchase a Dolby Atmos receiver and use its outputs to break up the signaling.
79% appreciated the durability, although 21% found it wore out
I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the DAC in this unit and recommend it for mid-fi audio gear.
The optical port's fragile nature indicates the unit's cheap construction.
I have experienced the product stopping working three times in a month, indicating its lack of durability.
I find the product useless as it turns off on its own and requires the power cable to be unplugged and plugged back in to function. This makes it difficult to use in an audio system. I am frustrated with the product's durability.
I warn that the optical port connection is very fragile, indicating cheap construction of the unit.
The cover for the optical cable broke within 20 seconds of trying to set up the converter and it's difficult to keep the cable connected without it.
The product has stopped working three times in a month, indicating poor durability.
I find the product useless for sound system hookup as it does not remain on.
77% liked the portability, but 23% found it flimsy
I found that powering the device through USB was not a good idea due to noise introduced by the barrel connection. An isolator or a separate adapter can be used to handle this issue.
This device only accepts Dolby Digital and not the more common Dolby Digital Plus, limiting its portability.
77% liked the user interface, but 23% found it confusing
I am impressed with the quality of the DAC in this digital-to-analog-signal-converter and recommend it for mid-fi audio gear.
I faced difficulty while inserting the optical cable into the Prozor unit and the TV. It could be due to lack of RTFM.
There is a problem with the user interface of the digital-to-analog-signal-converter as the right and left channels were swapped.
I found that the manual had no information about volume adjustment and that the TV volume would not work with optical conversion. I had to learn how to use the conversion box controls, specifically the buttons on each side of the box marked volume, to adjust the volume. I found that one button raised the volume and the other lowered it, but they were on opposite sides of the box, which was not obvious.
I had to learn how to use the volume controls on my own as the manual had no information about it. It was not obvious that the volume controls were on opposite sides of the box. I had to figure out that one button raises the volume and the other lowers it. This shows that the user interface of the digital-to-analog-signal-converter is not user-friendly and it has caused frustration to me.
76% praised the heat management
I previously tried and returned other converters, but this one works for me. I can get audio if I'm pulling channels off my rooftop antenna or if I'm inputting from a Firestick. The sound is limited by the cheap speakers in my room, but it's way better than the TV's internal speakers.
We can watch TV together even if one of us has hearing difficulties. Just hook your headphones into a DAC02/BT transmitter (Avantree Prima III recommended).
I recommend this product for those who have an old analog system and want to upgrade to digital surround sound signals.
