About OREI Premium HDMI (eARC & ARC) to RCA L/R Analog Audio Converter
Overall Feedback:
89% positive
79% appreciated the wide compatibility, though 21% experienced issues
I faced a design oversight and had to learn about Audio Return Channel (ARC) to fix the issue. I found that my TV supports this technology after digging through the settings.
I bought the product at the recommendation of Sennheiser customer support to pair with my Sennheiser RS185 wireless headphone base. It was supposed to solve the issues with PCM incompatibility with the Sennheiser wireless base/decoder.
The product causes a problem with the HDMI signal and is identical to another product except for the logo.
I tried two different models of the digital-to-analog-signal-converter and both failed to work.
I have complained that the website's specification sheet did not indicate the exceptions to the formats supported by the unit.
The product's HDMI signal is affected due to the identical logo.
For me, the conversion is reliable for coax digital input but not for toslink input.
70% liked the connectivity, but 30% found it lacking
I connected the device with a standard audio cord for better audio and less clutter.
The digital-to-analog-signal-converters convert bitstreams to stereo incorrectly. My receiver only plays L/R of a 5.1 track.
I faced issues with connectivity of the digital-to-analog-signal-converters. I kept getting HDCP errors while watching a movie from my Roku.
80% praised the conversion accuracy, while 20% experienced distortion
I needed a converter that could handle a Dolby signal and found the Orei DA34 converter sufficient for that purpose.
I have the bandwidth to support the 1440 120hz resolution, but my converter is not configured for it.
80% appreciated the durability, although 20% found it wore out
My amplifier's optical signal would cut out and back in erratically and it got worse over time. By day two, the optical output stopped working altogether.
After several months, my setup would run for 20-30 minutes and my Sennheisers would go blank.
The product worked for half an hour, but then the optical signal to my amplifier started cutting out erratically. It got worse over time, and by day two, the optical output stopped working altogether.
70% praised the heat management, but 30% faced issues
The product works perfectly with my PS5 and the picture stays the same.
I am concerned about the unit heat based on other reviews.
I might buy another one and attach a heat sink to the IC chip inside as I guess it overheats without a heat sink or fan when left on most of the time getting power from the TV.
65% found the led indicators helpful, while 35% didn't
The LED indicator was not turning on for a while, but now it powers up and shows a blue screen when I switch to HDMI input. However, it is no longer detected by my TV via HDMI and my receiver via the optical cable.
I frequently have to unplug the HDMI cable and plug it back in to properly display the signal on my receiver.
After 3 months, my product stopped working. Initially, the light wouldn't turn on but now it powers up and shows a blue screen when switched to HDMI input. However, it is no longer detected by my TV via HDMI and my receiver via the optical cable.
81% liked the portability
I accomplished something related to portability of digital-to-analog-signal-converters with the help of this device.
I tried another model of the digital-to-analog-signal-converter before giving up and tried this particular unit. I was surprised that it worked like a charm.
I connected the device with a standard audio cord to my bluray player and then to a small 40 watt amp, which I connected to two nice bookshelf speakers. The audio was better with less hassle and clutter. It was also portable and easy to use.
69% liked the user interface, but 31% found it confusing
I found the interface of this digital-to-analog-signal-converter easy to use. All I had to do was flip a tiny switch to analog coaxial input and it worked fine.
I had to flip the tiny switch over to analog coaxial input and it worked fine.
I cannot control the volume from the television with this connection, as confirmed by the manufacturer.
When I use this digital-to-analog-signal converter, the screen goes to static and reloads every 15 minutes or so.
I faced a design oversight and had to learn about Audio Return Channel (ARC) to fix the issue. I found that my TV supports this technology after digging through the settings.
