There is a metal gizmo on the bottom of the stapler which opens up the hinge mechanism so that it can be used flat like a cork-board.

I had some SF4 staple refills that worked great with the stapler, but it does not come pre-filled.

This stapler is easy to use with a smooth action, allowing me to staple multiple pages with one hand without much effort.
63% appreciated the jam resistance, but 37% experienced jams
Every time I use the stapler, it ends in a jam.
The desk-stapler jams too often for my liking, despite it being heavy and looking great.
65% liked the ergonomic design, yet 35% found it uncomfortable
My smaller hand finds the center of gravity for this stapler slightly off balance, so I have to ensure a proper grip to avoid dropping it.

68% were satisfied with the base stability, however 32% didn't
I bought the Swingline stapler because of its reputation for stability and it has not jammed up once. It is heavy duty and solid, unlike plastic ones that need to be replaced in a year.
This model has stability and heft which assures reliable performance during the hectic office environment, even though the manufacturer compromised on the strengths of the stapler.
I have to take care that I have grasped the stapler properly as it is slightly off balance for my smaller hand.
I compared the base stability of the old version with the new version. The old version has a larger cast metal base whereas the red one is smaller and stamped sheet metal.
This stapler requires little effort and can handle up to 25 sheets of 20 lb bond with reduced effort and half the force of traditional staplers to deliver consistent, accurate stapling. I no longer get bruises on my hand from using my old stapler.
