I was lucky with the design of my bar-b-qur as I could adjust the light by taking off the nut and clamp then sliding the threaded shaft through the slot.
The lamp is flexible enough to swing over the router bit or back out of the way.

I found the installation process of the desk lamp easy. I was lucky because of the design of my bar-b-qur. I took off the nut and clamp then slid the threaded shaft through the slot. Installed the clamp and nut on the threaded shaft and hand tightened the base onto the grill shelf.
