About Elite Gourmet EFD770WD Digital Food Dehydrator
Overall Feedback:
72% positive
74% appreciated the timer functionality, yet 26% didn't
This dehydrator hits its advertised temperature range very accurately, all the way up to 158°F, which is impressive as most dehydrators don't do this. It's a great alternative for small batches at a great price compared to the Excalibur, which is known for its accurate temps up to 165°F.
The temperature controls are random and inaccurate, and the temperature fluctuates by 10° from the desired temperature.
71% were impressed with the temperature range, whereas 29% weren't
I found that the temperature range for a nacho cheese warmer is 120-140 degrees and started using my oven dehydrator.
I started the dehydrator at a medium degree around 90 and it seemed fine for 5 minutes. But when I returned, I found firetrucks and my wife in an ambulance being treated for smoke inhalation.
For safety reasons, some meats require a temperature of 165F which the dehydrator does not reach.
The temperature controls are random and inaccurate. The temperature fluctuates between being 10° hotter or colder than the desired temperature.
72% appreciated the temperature control , yet 28% didn't
I found the dehydrator to be very accurate in temperatures, as measured by a calibrated thermometer.
I appreciate the adjustable temperature control feature of the dehydrator, which allows me to set the temperature to the perfect level for making banana chips.
The dehydrator lacks temperature settings and does not reach the recommended 165F for some meats.
The temperature controls are inaccurate and random. It cannot be set at a specific temperature but rather at odd intervals such as 131° and 149°. Even when set to these temperatures, it fluctuates between being 10° hotter or colder than the desired temperature.
77% liked the size and design, but 23% desired more
I found the dehydrator smaller than expected, but it still has room for most smaller dehydrating projects.
The dehydrator is very small, as demonstrated by its size compared to objects like an apple and milk carton.
I recommend paying attention to the dimensions before purchasing the dehydrator as it is quite small.
80% found the airflow system helpful, while 20% encountered issues
The clean up is simple due to the easy clean lining on the metal grates.
The temperature controls are difficult to use as they are random and inaccurate. Setting a specific temperature is a challenge as it is set at odd intervals and even when set, it fluctuates by 10° from the desired temperature.
This dehydrator hits its advertised temperature range very accurately, all the way up to 158°F, which is impressive as most dehydrators don't do this. It's a great alternative for small batches at a great price compared to the Excalibur, which is known for its accurate temps up to 165°F.
I found that the dehydrator runs at about 145 degrees F and the herbs dried in about 2 hours, while the peppers and tomatoes took about 9 hours.
