I noticed that the dehydrator only heats up to 158 degrees while it is recommended to heat jerky up to 160 degrees.
I noticed that the advertised temperature setting is different from the actual temperature setting. It only goes up to 158 degrees instead of the advertised 185 degrees.

The dehydrator only heats up to 158 degrees, but it is recommended to heat jerky up to 160 degrees. The booklet that comes with the dehydrator tells you in a disclaimer that you need to either heat the meat up before you dehydrate it or put the jerky in the oven to ensure it is completely heated to kill bacteria.
