I recommend using the grinder at the recommended RPM for the cut-off wheels to avoid any problems.
97% found it cut through materials effortlessly, but 3% experienced slow cutting
I was able to make a 24 inch cut on a 7/16 steel plate with one blade and approximately 1/2 to an inch off another 4.5 wheel. I was amazed with the cutting performance of the cut-off-wheels. I had purchased other brands and a diamond blade that cost $19 and it wore out and couldnt finish the cut.
I was amazed with the cutting performance of the cut-off-wheels. I made a 24 inch cut on a 7/16 steel plate with one blade and approximately 1/2 to an inch off another 4.5 wheel with this.
After just 20 seconds of cutting with a brand new disc, the cut-off wheel blew apart and sent pieces all over the yard.
95% appreciated the long-lasting durability, though 5% found it wore out quickly
I was pleasantly surprised that the cut-off wheels lasted longer than expected and never shattered on me, despite using them for a long time. I have gone through about 10 of them and will definitely buy them again if I can find them.
The disc is stiff and strong but lacks enough metal mesh. Even after ten cuts, the edge is not scratched. This indicates that the cut-off wheels may not be durable enough.
While cutting through 18g sheet metal, I noticed that the cut-off-wheels frequently bound and exploded.
If you cut the wheels crooked or turn them while cutting or get them in a bind, they will disintegrate or fly apart.
The cut-off wheel blew apart within 20 seconds of cutting with a brand new disc, sending pieces all over the yard.
96% liked its ability to withstand high temperatures, but 4% experienced wheel degradation
The disc is stiff and strong, but there seems to be not enough metal mesh. Even after ten cuts, I can rub my hand around the edge and not get scratched.
The cut-off-wheels failed halfway through the disc with a burst of shrapnel, suggesting they were not heat-resistant.
I found that the Norton item gripped from the sides and engaged at an angle, causing the angle grinder to recoil and jump, making it harder to control. The item was much coarser on the sides.
I used the cut-off wheels to cut aluminum and 5/8 stainless steel threaded rod and was surprised how easily they cut through the metal.
