About Benchmark Abrasives 4-1/2" Aluminum Oxide Quality Thin Cut Off Wheel for Metal and Stainless Steel
Overall Feedback:
90% positive
90% found it cut through materials effortlessly, but 10% experienced slow cutting
I have been using these cut-off wheels for over 40 years and they are the best, longest lasting, and most durable cutting disks I have ever used.
Cut-off wheels perform perfectly on specific materials like stainless steel, mild steel, and annealed O1 & D2.
When cutting thicker metal or making longer cuts, the cutting wheels consume much faster against hot metal. Expensive ones excel in this regard.
92% appreciated the long-lasting durability
I used the cut-off disks and they easily cut through mild steel like butter, but lost some size when cutting stainless steel and AR650 ballistic plate.
I have used the product to cut 3/8 plate, some rebar, and some rusted bolts and it is great.
I have been a welder fabricator for over 40 years and these cut-off-wheels are the best, longest lasting, and most durable cutting disks I have ever used.
I used the cut off disks and they tore through mild steel like butter without losing much of their size.
86% liked its ability to withstand high temperatures, but 14% experienced wheel degradation
I suggest not letting the workpiece heat up too much when doing thicker metal or longer cuts as the cut-off wheels consume much faster against hot metal.
The center Arbor section breaks out after a few moments of use.
I found that the Norton item gripped from the sides and engaged at an angle, causing the angle grinder to recoil and jump, making it harder to control. The item was much coarser on the sides.
These cutting discs cut smoothly and quickly, even through 1/2 inch plate, which is unusual as normally the disc would overheat and start to cut slowly.
I found that the cut-off-wheels cut through 14ga mild steel easily.
