The waterproof cover has been incredibly useful for me, especially when my baby peed through it a few times. It's convenient to take off and toss in the wash.

I was worried when I unpacked the mattress as it was noticeably smaller than the crib. However, within 24 hours, it substantially increased in size and within three days, there was no space between the crib and the mattress with the mattress smooshed up at the other end. The width is perfect.
The mattress fits snugly in the crib, but the corners are slightly rounded, leaving a small gap within safety guidelines.
After a month of use, the mattress still leaves almost 3 inches on the side of the crib.
