The zip off cover is supposed to be water resistant, but water got through when it just sat.
The cover is not water resistant and difficult to clean, which could lead to accidents and seepage onto the mattress.

The mattress is easy to clean, which is a great feature for me as my child is prone to spit ups and blow outs.
I chose this brand because the cover was advertised as machine washable, but it tore in two spots after washing it on delicate cycle in cold water and hanging it to dry.
