I was surprised by how hot the item got while using it to cook and boil water. It worked every bit as well as my glass top oven, and was small and lightweight. I used it every day for three months while awaiting my new oven and it worked like a charm without any issues.
On the low setting, I can boil water with just a 1/8 rotation of the dial because the burner gets very hot.
