About Vitamix 5200 Blender Professional-Grade
Overall Feedback:
67% positive
80% highlighted the variety of speed settings, though 20% wanted more options.
On the adjuster knob, the high setting is more powerful than the 10 setting and it is probably close to a 15 or more on that scale.
The blender has two blade speed settings: high and variable. When variable speed is switched on, I have ten speeds to select within it. It works flawlessly, but I will have to learn which speeds are best for which applications.

The speed control potentiometer wears out quickly if used daily, causing the speed to jump up and down.
To start most recipes, I need to use variable speed on a low setting. To return to that setting, I flip the speed selector and turn the variable speed knob back down to 1.
70% appreciated the safety features
The newer Ascent line has a safety feature where the unit shuts off if the container dislodges from the base, thanks to its built-in self-detect technology.

70% found its operation exceptionally quite
The blender isn't quiet, but it's not loud enough to wake someone up in another room with the door closed. I've used it at 5AM to make my morning smoothie without disturbing anyone.
The noise level of my blender is quieter than my old Hamilton Beach blender.
The noise level is reasonable and it's quieter than my old Hamilton Beach blender. It makes noise for 10 seconds while blending ice and chunky food, but then becomes quiet again.
At its lowest speed, the Vitamix is almost silent and much quieter than a good mass market blender at equal speed.
69% liked how easy it is to clean
The blender is very easy to clean. I just follow the manufacturer's directions and blend water with a drop of dish soap.
The cleaning process is fairly easy as recommended by Vitamix's team. Just add a drop or two of dish soap to half a container full of water and blend away.
Cleaning the blender takes me only 3 minutes.
It is very easy to clean the blender. It cleans itself with soapy water on high and the edges are easy to scrub, with no food sticking.
Cleaning the Vitamix was a revelation to me. The steps to clean it are easy.
Cleaning the blender is easy. You can add water, let it run for 10 seconds, and then rinse it.
Cleaning the blender is very easy. Just add a drop of dish soap and about a cup of boiling water, and rev the motor a few times.
Cleaning the blender is easy. You can add water, let it run for 10 seconds, and rinse.
Cleaning the Vitamix was a revelation to me. It can be quickly cleaned by filling it halfway with water, adding one drop of soap, blending for 30 seconds or less depending on how dirty it is, and then rinsing it. It's the only thing I can clean faster than a single spoon.
Cleaning the countertop blender is a breeze. It cleans itself with soapy water on high and the edges are easy to scrub. Plus, food doesn't stick to it.
I find the blender easy to clean and here are the steps to do it.
64% appreciated its durability
I have been using the Super 5200 Vitamix for about 14 years now and have put it through the test of durability for extremely tough blending projects. I am satisfied with the durability of the product.
This blender has a 1500-watt motor and a 10-point blade design, making it easy to crush ice, blend frozen fruits, and pulverize nuts and seeds for smoothies, soups, sauces, and more.
I have experimented with different speed settings for my smoothies and found that setting 8 for 45 seconds vs the automatic 10 for 40 seconds keeps the decibels in the 80s range.
