About Jo Chef Kitchen Torch, Blow Torch
Overall Feedback:
85% positive
88% liked the easy-to-clean design, but 12% found it a hassle
I have tried filling the torch vertically and horizontally, but it is difficult to tell if the butane is filling the torch or just leaking.
I have a torch that can burn anything it touches, including carpet or rug. My celebrity chef friend wouldn't even take it and I feel it could possibly burn the house down.
75% were impressed with the sleek design, but 25% weren't
The base of the cooking torch feels solid in my hand.
I prefer the safety latch to disable both the fuel knob and the striker.
The design of the cooking torch is not good and it can be dangerous because there are no easy ways to start or stop the flame.
The design of the torch is unsafe and terrible, and it operates in this way, indicating a design failure.
The on/off switch only stops the ignition and not the flow of butane, which can be dangerous if the knob gets turned accidentally or by kids. The gas will continue to flow steadily even if the ignition switch is toggled off.
A giant flame erupted from the tip, which could be a problem with the design of my cooking torch.
78% liked the flame control, but 22% found it difficult to adjust
I can get the flame down to around 50% without it going out, but the control range is fairly limited.
I could not control the flame as it erupted from the tip and I was unable to shut it off.
I have noticed that the ignition trigger starts the flame but does not extinguish it when released. To turn off the flame, I need to adjust the knob on the back of the unit to shut off the gas flow.
I cannot use the torch with one hand.
64% appreciated the comfortable grip, while 36% found it slippery
I did not mention the grip comfort of the cooking torch.
74% praised the safety features, but 26% desired more
I have found that the torch performs as expected and is safe to use, despite some issues.
This torch cannot be used with one hand as it has no functioning safety features and will keep burning until the knob is turned off with the other hand.
The safety feature of the cooking torch is not adequate as it only prevents the striker from striking, not the fuel from being turned on, which could lead to accidental ignition or fuel exhaustion.
I wish the product had a small rubber o-ring gasket in the butane fill port as the butane shoots all over when trying to fill it.
I am concerned about the safety feature of the product. The on/off switch only stops the ignition and not the flow of butane, which could be dangerous if the knob gets turned on accidentally, especially around kids. The off switch should stop both the ignition and the flow of gas for safety purposes.
I am looking for a cheap torch for everyday use while cooking, baking, or cake decorating.
