About ELECOM Wired Finger-operated Large size Trackball Mouse
Overall Feedback:
83% positive
89% appreciated the adjustable settings, but 11% found them limited
The finger position for the buttons has greatly improved since the M-DT series. The right click and Fn3 buttons fit under my ring and pinky fingers, leaving my index and middle fingers to control the ball. I usually roll the ball with my index, middle and ring fingers, pulling my hand slightly out of the proper position, but the integrated palm rest allows my hand to easily return to the default position without having to think about it.
I found the sensitivity adjustment feature fantastic with 3 settings to choose from depending on the application.
I could not adjust to the size of the trackball.
84% liked the easy connectivity, but 16% found it difficult
I occasionally use the trackball for music and video editing, finding it useful.
I think the Elecom Huge M-HT1DRBK Wireless might be the best invention since Coca Cola and BigMac.
During heavy network use, my mouse pointer moves sluggishly because my computer's 2.4GHz WiFi disrupts the 2.4GHz wireless connection.
84% liked its durability, but 16% experienced wear and tear
I hope the product lasts at least 3 years without breaking.
I am not sure about the durability of the trackball and can only comment on it after using it for some time.
I have read reviews on reddit where people say that the durability of the trackball is not about the material but the bearings not being spherical. However, I took out the bearings and found that they are high grade spheres.
I am concerned about the durability of the trackball, particularly the self-skinned soft polypad that adds to its comfort during operation. Will it last for a decade or more of hard use?
89% appreciated the comfortable grip
The Elecom Huge has an ergonomic design with a soft, textured surface for the wrist to rest on, making it very comfortable to work with.
Initially, I doubted the change but after using it for less than a day, I found it extremely comfortable. My little finger and ring finger sat naturally on the two right buttons.
The palm rest is very comfortable and non-slip with soft rubber material.
The mouse is heavy, but I can comfortably press the scroll wheel without having to grip the other side and it won't move.
I find the trackball quite comfortable but it could benefit greatly from a tilting function.
The top of the device has soft padding, making it very comfortable to use.
The pad under my wrist is a feature I was not aware of, but it keeps my hand aligned well and is very comfortable.
83% liked the quiet operation, but 17% found it noisy
I have complained about the device emitting a high pitch tone, which is quite annoying. I have tried different USB ports and an externally powered USB hub, but the problem persists.
66% praised the high-quality sensor, while 34% experienced accuracy issues
The trackball is excellent as monitor space is cheaper and more plentiful.
The sensitivity adjustment is fantastic, allowing me to choose between 3 settings depending upon the application.
When I pop the ball out with the device plugged in, the sound stops, indicating an issue with the optical sensor.
I recommend not using it for gaming as the sensor cannot process a spun ball quickly even when switched to high optical processing.

I noticed that there is a switch beside the roller which controls the pointer speed and energy consumption. It has high and low settings.

The finger position for the buttons has greatly improved since the M-DT series. The right click and Fn3 buttons fit right under my ring and pinky fingers, leaving my index and middle fingers to control the ball.
I would prefer a smaller trackball like the Kensington Bluetooth SlimBlade Trackball Mouse Wireless K72281US, which has Bluetooth connectivity instead of RF, saving me a USB port on my Dell XPS 18.
